The Village has entered into a new five-year contract with Groot that will begin on September 1, 2024. Through this new program, stickers will no longer be used for refuse and yard waste. Instead, customers can benefit from unlimited flat-rate collection of refuse, recycling, and yard waste. Groot will provide customers with new refuse and recycling containers. These containers are currently on display at Village Hall for anyone interested in viewing the sample sizes. Three sizes will be available for customers 33 gal. (small), 64 gal. (medium), and 96 gal. (large) and can be selected during registration. 

Please note that registration is not currently open for this program, but is coming soon! Residents will receive their new Groot Refuse and Recycling Brochure in the mail with more information about this program and how to sign up.  Stay tuned!

New Program Highlights:
  • Unlimited flat-rate collection of refuse, recycling, and yard waste
  • Stickers will no longer be used for refuse or yard waste
  • Groot will provide customers with refuse and recycling containers based on pre-picked selections (see sample sizes on display inside Village Hall)
  • Clean-up week is scheduled for the fall, during the week of October 1, 2024
  • Six weeks (formerly four) of free leaf collection beginning on November 1
  • 15% Senior discount rate will apply to seniors 65 and older

Program Highlights: 
  • Groot collection began on June 1, 2018, and the program structure is similar to the previous Waste Management program
  • Reduction in sticker cost from $4.15 to the new rate of $4.00 per sticker (June 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024)    
  • Four weeks of free bagged leaf pick-up in November
  • Comingled recycling - residents can use existing bins (no larger than 20 gallons), or purchase new rectangular bins for $20.00 (64 or 96-gallon recycling carts are available to rent from Groot for $3.50/month)
  • The landscape waste program will continue unchanged.  One sticker is required on each brown landscape bag and each landscape bundle
  • As an option, residents can contract with Groot for monthly refuse & recycling cart service.  Monthly rates are: 33 and 64-gallon cart - $24.50/month; 96-gallon cart - $28.00/month.  Carts can be rented for $3.50/month or purchased for $75.00. Previously purchased Waste Management Carts can continue to be used
  • Clean-Up Day (previously Amnesty Day) on your regular collection day during the first full week of October.  Stickers are required on the first five items. All units in addition to the first five are free
  • Bulk items will be collected curbside with three stickers per item
  • White goods (appliances such as a refrigerator): Optional service that requires advance notice to Groot for $45.00/per item.
  • Curbside E-waste Collection (Electronics): Optional service that requires advance notice to Groot.  Brown bag of small electronics: five stickers; TVs or monitors less than 50 lbs.: 15 stickers.

REFUSE, RECYCLING, AND YARD WASTE PROGRAMThe Village of Woodridge has a "bag-n-tag" curbside collection program. With this program, a sticker must be attached to all refuse or landscape containers. You may attach the sticker to a maximum 33-gallon plastic bag or a maximum 33-gallon rigid container. Containers cannot weigh more than 50 pounds. You do not need to put a sticker on each bag placed inside the garbage can. Please note that stickers will no longer be used for refuse or yard waste under the new Groot Refuse and Recycling Program beginning September 1, 2024. It is recommended that residents only purchase stickers for use through the end of the current program (August 31, 2024).

REFUSE MUST BE PLACED AT THE CURB BY 7 A.M.  Items may be put out for collection after 3 p.m. the day before and must be removed by 8 p.m. the day of your scheduled pick-up.
