The Village of Woodridge is proud to be a partner of the Census Bureau as we get ready for the 2020 Census. Making sure that every resident in Woodridge is counted is critical for funding, representation, and business investment in our community.
Woodridge will be doing its part to maximize participation by all residents, including renters and property owners. The higher the population count, the higher the share of certain state taxes distributed on a per-capita (population) basis Woodridge gets.
- Income tax -- A share of income taxes paid by individuals and businesses from withholding, estimates and tax returns is shared with counties and municipalities based on population. The Village receives a portion of the state's 4.95-percent personal income tax on individuals, trusts and estates, and 7-percent tax on corporations.
- Use tax -- A portion of the sales taxes collected by the state of Illinois on a non-taxed or lower taxed out-of-state purchases (e.g. internet sales) used in Illinois is distributed to counties and municipalities based on population.
- Motor fuel tax -- A portion of the 38-cents per gallon motor fuel tax collected by the state of Illinois is distributed to counties and municipalities based on population. Its use is restricted to local road construction projects.
